The USU Faculty Senate reports to and receives input from the entire Faculty via Faculty Assemblies that are held in the Fall, Winter, and Spring of each academic year, from 4:00 p.m to 5:30 p.m. in Lecture Hall D. Your presence at and participation in the Fall Faculty Assembly is urgently requested. Your colleagues on the Senate are working on numerous critical issues to improve education, research, and faculty welfare at USUHS. We want to keep you informed, and we need to hear from you. Presented by Dr. Coleen Baird (Coleen Weese in publication), MD, MPH is the Environmental Medicine Program Manager at the U.S. Army Center for Health Promotion and Preventive Medicine (USACHPPM) and John Kolivosky, P.E. is the CENTCOM coordination manager for the USACHPPM Deployment Environmental Surveillance Program.
Note - Dr. Baird recently published an article in Inhalation Toxicology(2009) titled "Potential health Implications Associated with Particulate Matter Exposure in Deployed Settings in Southwest Asia".
October 22: New Faculty Orientation Day Event:
8:00 a.m. to 16:00 p.m. in the Small Dining Room. The USU Faculty Senate Mentoring Committee has worked in coordination with the Administration and other key University leaders to create a valuable series of presentations to help new faculty understand USUHS procedures, policies, and opportunities. While it has been designed primarily for faculty who are new to the University (within the last 2 or so years), it is open to ALL FACULTY who are interested in attending. October 22: All Faculty Reception:
There will be an All Faculty Reception held after New Faculty Orientation Day from 4:00 p.m.- 5:30 p.m. in the Hall of Flags. All Faculty are invited and encouraged to attend this reception, which will be a great opportunity to meet, greet and network/discuss mutual interests with our newest colleagues. It will provide a forum for more informal discussion, and your insights will be invaluable to newcomers and vital to promoting the welcome we hope to extend to them on this day.

USU to Host Repeat Performance of Theater of War - Philoctetes Project, from 8:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. in the Sanford Auditorium. The program is sponsored by the Center for Deployment Psychology and Defense Centers of Excellence for Psychological Health and TBI. The two ancient plays, AJAX and PHILOCTETES, timelessly depict the psychological and physical wounds inflicted upon soldiers by war.

Neuroscience Program 19th Annual Open House & Poster Session at 3:30 p.m. in the lobby of Building B (first floor). All members of the neuroscience community (USU, AFRRI, NNMC, NMRI, WRAMC and WRAIR) are invited to attend and to present a poster of their work.
