As a USU member your government furnished computer will come with the Microsoft Office Suite installed. Those products include:
- Microsoft Access
- Microsoft Excel
- Microsoft PowerPoint
- Microsoft Word
In certain Work From Home (WFH) circumstances, the Office products listed above may be borrowed from the Helpdesk (see below). Other Microsoft products may be purchased at a reduced price. Borrowing Licensed Software
To borrow licensed software you must meet the following requirements:
- Faculty and staff must be currently billeted or employed by USU
- Students must be currently enrolled at USU
- You must have a valid USU badge
- Your office must reside on the USU campus or in one of the USU satellite locations
- Licensed software can only be installed on USU, HJF, or Leased machines at work
- Some licensed software may be installed at home for work purposes only with *approval (Microsoft Campus Agreement)
*In addition, the employer may require a Telework Agreement to be completed and signed.
The following is the list of site licensed software available at the Helpdesk:
- EndNote
- ProCite
- Reference Manager
- MEEC software (Microsoft Office Suite)
- *SAS
- SPSS (students enrolled in SPSS courses)
*USU licensed software is available with limited number of licenses. After the number of licenses has been met, the software will no longer be available until the next version is issued.
Please note that software must be returned within two (2) workdays. You may require the Help Desk's assistance to install software at work.
A Groupwise client CD can be obtained at the Helpdesk to install on your home computer without putting in a Heat Self Service Request. Simply bring a blank, writeable CD/DVD or USB drive to the helpdesk and obtain the software needed to access Groupwise using the email client.
60 DAY E-MAIL PURGE (as of 4/3/00)
The amount of mail kept on the University servers is 60 days. Any mail older than 60 days will be deleted from the servers. If you have any mail you wish to keep you can archive it (this includes any folders you have created). Any questions concerning how to archive mail please call the Helpdesk at 295-9800.
